These regions have tremendous mission sending potential to help bring the gospel to unreached peoples, but they currently send only 20% of the world’s cross-cultural missionaries!

You are driving down the highway and hear a warning &ldquo;ding&rdquo; from your car&rsquo;s computer system. You look down at the instrument panel and see a flashing indicator light. It is bright red, looks like an engine, and has an exclamation point next to it. How annoying! You proceed to grab the duct tape from the glove compartment, rip off a piece, and cover up the flashing red light so that it won&rsquo;t bother you anymore while you continue driving.
You have just made a foolish decision. The red warning light is not there to annoy you, but to let you know about a serious problem in your engine that needs immediate attention.
Anger and Parenting
In the same way, anger is a warning light that something in our child&rsquo;s heart needs urgent parenting, engagement, and discipleship. To ignore a child&rsquo;s anger (or our anger) is to act like the foolish driver who covers up the red warning light rather than taking time to investigate why it is flashing.
Our mission as parents is to build a loving, heart-connected relationship with our children in order to help them build a loving, heart-connected relationship with God. Anger destroys warmth, closeness, honesty, and trust. It destroys the heart connection needed for our family to follow Jesus together.&nbsp;
Warnings about Anger
God&rsquo;s Word gives us strong warnings about the nature and destructive power of anger.&nbsp;

Ephesians 4:31, &ldquo;Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you&hellip;&rdquo;

James 1:20, &ldquo;The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.&rdquo;

1 Corinthians 12:5, &ldquo;Love is not easily angered&hellip;&rdquo;
</li>

Proverbs 27:4, &ldquo;Anger is cruel, and wrath is like a flood.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Finding Freedom&nbsp;
Is your family trapped in a cycle of anger? Do you see your child holding grudges or snapping with a quick temper? Consider these four action steps.
1. Start with your own anger.
Every parent struggles to some degree with impatience, anger, and harshness. When we yell or lose our temper, we need to ask for God&rsquo;s help to quickly repent and apologize to our children. &ldquo;I lost my temper. I was wrong. It was not your fault that I got mad and I am sorry. Will you please forgive me?&rdquo; We will not lead our children with our perfection, but we can lead them with our humility.&nbsp;
2. Press in with compassionate conversation.
When you see the warning light of anger in your child, don&rsquo;t ignore it. &ldquo;I know you are angry right now. This anger is going to hurt you. Will you talk with me? Will you let me help you? Can we face this together?&rdquo; Then give your child space and freedom to talk, be honest, and vent.
3. Pray together.
Invite your child to pray with you. Encourage your child to confess their anger and ask the Lord to give them peace. They can also do serious battle against anger by praying for God to bless the person they are angry with (Matthew 5:44).
4. Increase your family time in God&rsquo;s Word.
When anger swirls around our homes, we need strength and &ldquo;spiritual food&rdquo; from God&rsquo;s Word. There are 31 chapters in Proverbs. Consider reading the chapter that corresponds to today&rsquo;s date. On the 11th of the month, read Proverbs chapter 11. Proverbs is full of practical directions to navigate difficult relationships.&nbsp;
