These regions have tremendous mission sending potential to help bring the gospel to unreached peoples, but they currently send only 20% of the world’s cross-cultural missionaries!

Help your family embrace God&rsquo;s love for the world by developing a habit of learning about other cultures. Read this story together to learn about and pray for the Uyghurs (WEE-gurz), an unreached Muslim people group in Northwest China and Central Asia.
Welcome to Kashgar (KASH-gahr) where, in the Old City, narrow alleyways and ancient mud-brick buildings with colorful arched windows are giving way to modern, concrete architecture and wider streets. Signs here use both Arabic script and Chinese characters. Vendors at the Kashgar Bazaar sell a variety of food and drinks&mdash;freshly squeezed pomegranate juice, melons, noodles, and hardboiled eggs from birds of all sizes. The scent of freshly baked bread threads its way through the crowds.&nbsp;
While most Uyghur families are Muslim, many practice folk Islam as well, turning to magic, spirits, and special charms for help in navigating day-to-day problems. Many Uyghurs don&rsquo;t know who Jesus really is. They may have never crossed paths with anyone who could share the gospel with them because there are so few Uyghur Christians. Yaxshimusiz (YAKH SHEE-moh-sis)! Hello! My name is Nureli (NOOR ah-LEE). My friends and I love playing this game! Do you like soccer? I live here in the Old City with my parents. They sell all kinds of nan (nahn)&mdash;flatbread covered with almonds, walnuts, or sesame seeds&mdash;to visitors. Our stand&rsquo;s bread is the best!&nbsp; Sometimes I help sell nan when I&rsquo;m not at school or playing soccer with my friends.
My family enjoys gathering around the dutar (doo-TAHR) to sing. Like a 2-stringed guitar, it&rsquo;s shaped like a pear cut in half, but with a long wooden neck. My uncle&rsquo;s instrument has beautiful carvings and painted designs. Uncle wears his doppa (DOH-pah), a small black cap with white embroidery and shiny beads, and strums the dutar strings. We sing and sway to the rhythm of the music. My family and I laugh and joke while we drink our tasty etken chai (EHT-ken chih), from small bowls. We dip this tea from a pot with a handmade wooden spoon. Dad and I carved it and then Mom painted it yellow with white flowers.&nbsp;
My favorite holiday is Korban Heyt (KOOR-bahn hayt). Everyone is supposed to slaughter a lamb to remember when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son but then provided a ram instead. Our family can&rsquo;t afford a whole sheep so Mom sends me to the nearby park to buy a bag of mutton meat to boil at home. Korban Heyt is so much fun. We visit the homes of our neighbors and relatives, eat yummy food and treats, and give each other gifts. What&rsquo;s your favorite holiday?

Throughout the city of Kashgar, business and street signs are written in two languages: Arabic and Chinese. This makes it easy for Uyghur and Chinese residents to know what is being communicated.
